Tati Westbrook and James Charles Scandal: In Case You Haven't Heard

In recent news, YouTubers James Charles and Tati Westbrook have gained the attention of millions, over a publicized falling out between the two. Tati (Age 37) uploaded a video to YouTube on May 10th, with the title 'BYE SISTER...'. The video essentially explained the recent and unexplained Twitter drama that had been brewing between the two influencers, who were originally like mother and son.

Tati explained her relationship with James (Age 19) prior to the conflict. She stated that she had met James through dms on Instagram years ago, as he reached out to her for advice on how to become successful in the beauty industry. Tati was flattered by his support and enthusiastic attitude, and decided to help him get his career going. She mentioned that she had been very supportive of his career from the initial day they came into contact, and that they had formed a very special bond over time. Tati had put him in multiple of her videos to help him gain the exposure he needed, and even promoted his makeup palette and collaboration with Morphe Cosmetics countless times, without asking for anything in return. James grew overwhelmingly in success over the past two years, and was up to over 16 million subscribers before Tati's video had been posted. The YouTuber explained that James had betrayed her in a more personal way than anything, as he refused to help promote her new product line called 'Halo Cosmetics,' and decided to partner with her competitors, even though he had verbally stated that he disliked the product. Tati also exposed James for promoting the opposing product to his young viewers as an antidepressant and a sleeping pill. The product was intended to be a hair supplement, so these statements made by James did not sit well with many viewers. On top of all of this self-inflicted drama, Tati touched upon the topic of James' history with trying to turn straight men gay, and using his fame and success as a way to manipulate and persuade people into rethinking their sexuality for his own benefits. There have been countless clips and videos of him that have surfaced recently, showing him making straight men uncomfortable by questioning their sexuality and asking them inappropriate questions on camera as well. Tati had explained that she had talked to James about how wrong his actions were countless times, and that his responses were always meant to justify his wrong doings. Even Zara Larsson, a popular pop singer, had tweeted out about how James had commented inappropriate things under her boyfriend's posts, and made him uncomfortable, knowing that he was not only straight, but in a relationship.

Since the upload of Tati's video, James has become the first YouTuber ever to lose over one million subscribers in 24 hours, and its understandable why that is so. Not only was James exposed for sexually manipulating men to get what he wanted, betraying someone who treated him like family, and promoting antidepressants to young children, but also for misbehaving in front of Tati's friends and family, and disrespecting them as well. Tati mentioned how she treated him and his brother as if they were her sons, and how she was really upset by the comments James' mom had made on multiple Instagram posts. The YouTuber responded to these comments by saying that James' mom should be there in LA with her sons instead of on Instagram, because her boys really needed her. Millions of fans have become vocal about their opinions on the topic, many praising Tati for her honesty and using her platform to expose James for who he truly is. James has always had a negative name in the minds of many, and this scandal pushed many people off the edge, saying that this was his last straw to pull. People have been making countless memes about the incident as well, and there is no doubt that there are a couple drama alert and scandal reaction videos coming are way in the near future.

I personally am on Tati's side in this situation. Yes, James is a human being and is definitely not in the best state of mind currently due to all of the backlash he has been getting since the drama first started.  I do have some empathy towards him in that sense, because that could really damage one's mental health. However, we all have to face the consequences of our actions, and it would not be as bad as it is now, if he hadn't had done all of these terrible things in the first place.
